Summertime means the kids are out of school, more time with the family and time of for vacation. So what do you do when the kids are rambunctious and you want to keep them occupied? We want to help you beat the summer heat with activities around Downtown Tulsa.

Hop in the car in the morning and head downtown for the day. Explore museums, art centers, water parks and grab a bite to eat at local spots. It’s a quick day trip into Tulsa that will keep you and the family happy.

Summer Fun in Tulsa

Let’s start with a great place to cool off and splash in the sun at Safari Joe’s H2O in Tulsa. There’s something fun for all ages, like float around the lazy river, ride water slides, and play in the wave pool.

For animal lovers, the Tulsa Zoo is always worth a trip! Plus they always have great events and special exhibits throughout the year. You can see animals from around the world and learn about conservation. 

A wild and educational day at the Children’s Museum and Discovery Lab will keep your kids busy, active and learning. The Children’s Museum and Discovery Lab is truly about discovery. Join and become a member to get access to exclusive events.

The Oklahoma Jazz Hall of Fame is all about sharing Oklahoma’s rich jazz, blues and gospel history. “Our efforts at the Jazz Hall are to educate Oklahomans, tourists and visitors about Oklahoma’s amazing and diverse music heritage, and the impact the music and our outstanding Oklahoma artists have made to the fabric of music in this country and on the musical landscape throughout the world.” It’s a unique experience that everyone should visit at least once.

The Gilcrease Museum is an American history and art museum. They offer Summer Art Classes for children ages 5-12 which could be the perfect summer activity for your little Picasso. The Gilcrease Museum is home to the world’s most comprehensive, and largest collection of art and artifacts of the American West. It also has an incredible collection of Native American artifacts and art, plus historical documents, maps and manuscripts.

Tulsa Air and Space Museum and Planetarium is one of our favorite spots in Tulsa. With permanent exhibits like: The Early Birds, World War II, and The Space Age (as well as many others), the Tulsa Air and Space Museum and Planetarium is an educational museum that will teach you all about the history of aviation, where we have been and where we may go in the future. They also have a planetarium that teaches you about the wonders of space and the cosmos.
