National Compliment Day | 10 Opportunities To Give A Compliment In Your Day

Roommates

If you are living in any of our communities we would highly recommend you start this process at home. For those of you living in our MCLife Tulsa community The Place At Quail Hollow, use this as an excuse to meet your neighbors and fellow community members! Give out some compliments to your roommates and then start looking for other community members you might see on a daily basis but never interact with, easy way to change that today! We know that living with people can be very rewarding and also stressful. If you have been looking for a way to improve your communications with your roommates use this opportunity and give them some compliments!

Co-Workers

Did you know that employees and workers who feel appreciated are more likely to work harder at their jobs? You don’t have to be the boss in order to make someone feel valued and important at their job. Give out some compliments to your co-workers for National Compliment Day!

Strangers

How often do you pass someone in the street and really enjoy what they are wearing, how they are acting, etc. Tell them! Not just for National Compliment Day but everyday! Giving out compliments to strangers can seem awkward but once you get started it will be a breeze. People are never upset to hear nice things after all.

Public Servants

Sometimes we take for granted the people in our lives who keep things running. We cross paths with fire fighters, police officers, elected officials, military members, and even just public servants on a daily basis. Take a moment to stop and shake their hand. Tell them how great of a job they are doing. It’s a tough time out there to be a public servant. They will appreciate hearing that you recognize their hard and often selfless work!

You Saved The Day

Even in small ways, there is usually someone who bails us out. Someone shares a cab, holds the elevator, catches you before you wipe out in the snow, etc. Make sure to stop and take a conscious moment to compliment them for having it together when you weren’t at your best!

Service Providers

I’m super guilty of being in a rush ALL THE TIME. If you are looking for a way to give out some extra compliments today, look no further than those people who are providing you services on a daily basis. The mail man, your daily coffee barista, even the maintenance people in your building. Everyone wants to feel valued and feel like they are doing a good job. Tell someone how much you appreciate what they are doing for you today.

Someone Made Your Job Easier

If there is someone in your life like an assistant or co-worker, even a family member who steps up to help you out, tell them how great they are! Let them know that they make your life easier and you think that is EPIC. It’s few and far between that we actually stop and tell someone that the things they are doing really help us get through the day. This is a fantastic opportunity to give out some compliments in your day.

No Reason At All

There are countless opportunities in our daily lives to give someone a compliment for no reason at all. Not all compliments need to be merit based. Take the time today (and everyday) to stop and give some people compliments for no reason. “It made my day to see you”, “I really enjoy spending time with you”, “Your smile brightens my day”. There are a lot of simple and easy ways to let someone know that you see them, you value them, and their actions are making a difference. It might seem like a simple acknowledgement but it could make a big difference to them. Compliments are a rare thing in the world today!

Learning Something Valuable

You don’t necessarily have to be recreating the wheel here. Did someone teach you something today? Large or small? Someone fill in a blank where you couldn’t quite piece it together? Tell them how great it is that they knew that info and how much better your life will be now that you also have that info. They didn’t have to share that knowledge with you, they deserve a compliment for sharing!

At The Gym

Are you back the gym for your new years resolution? If so, find simple ways to compliment others who might be doing the same. We don’t have to just compliment people we know or have relationships with for the meaning to stick! If you notice someone making an effort let them know. It’s easy to cross into creepy territory at the gym so keep in mind who you are talking to and what you are saying. I wouldn’t necessarily recommend commenting on someone’s appearance even if you mean it in a nice way 😉
