Removing Musty Home Odors

If you find that a musty smell sets up camp in your home you an get rid of the cause with this mixture and process: mix 6 oz of bleach with warm water. Using gloves and a sponge wipe down home surfaces. This will kill mold which causes the musty odor. To keep those musty home odor issues at bay, be sure to install a dehumidifier or use damp-rid type products. Keeping the moisture levels low can help to keep mold from growing and causing both smells and health issues! Windows and doors a big culprits so make sure to keep them disinfected if you notice this problem starting.

Destroy Pet Home Odors

If you have pets, there is a good chance that there is a funky smell that comes along with them from time to time. The first thing to do is keep the hair and shedding levels low. Brush them, keep them properly groomed, and make sure to vacuum regularly. The stray hairs that they are shedding and leaving behind are responsible for much of that smell!

Another way to combat pet odors is to use baking soda and a few drops of essential oil mixed together, sprinkled on carpets and furniture and then vacuum them up after a few minutes. Crumple up dry newspaper and fill shoes and boots with them. Not only will this help absorb any lingering moisture, it will also help deodorize. For even more deodorizing power, sprinkle in some of that baking soda and essential oil mixture!

General Cleaning / Odor Removal

If you have a general cleaning and deodorizing needs you can’t go wrong with white vinegar! You can use it with water, some lemon or essential oil, and a spray bottle to help disinfect and clean surfaces. This is especially great for removing odors in the kitchen, bathroom, and even in the laundry!

Vinegar is a great option for disinfecting and removing pet urine smells and orders. Blot up as much moisture as you can and then saturate the area with vinegar and again blot up the moisture. The acidic vinegar will kill bacteria and prevent odors from forming after the area dries.
