People frequently associate relaxation with being lazy or unmotivated, but relaxation is actually a critical compenent of being healthy. We all have busy lives and spend so much of our time woking at our jobs, and and working at home, so it is important to take time every now and then give our bodies and minds a break. We aren’t just talking about hanging out on the couch and watching tv for a few, wr’re talking about deep rejuvinating relaxation that pays big divedends to your overall health. Here are 5 ways that you can give your body and mind a break, leaving you refreshed and ready to get back to business just in time for National Relaxation Day!
Take A Load Off Tomorrow For National Relaxation Day
Taking a break and getting some much needed rest and relaxation does not have to mean you are giving up on your goals or slacking off! These are some great ways that you can indulge in a little extra self care tomorrow as part of National Relaxation Day!
Take A Half Day Off Work
It’s not always feasible to take a full day off work, I get that. Instead of trying to work in a day off, take the afternoon. Sometimes it’s easier to work through lunch and take a few hours off in the afternoon. This can mean you are home earlier and can take care of those pesky responsibilities earlier than normal. Once all of that is out of the way you can kick back and relax or go out for happy hour with some friends!
Netflix | Hulu Binge
Is there a show that you’ve been dying to catch up on? Maybe National Relaxation Day is just the excuse you’ve been needing to take some time for yourself to kick back and chill. Put on your favorite sweatpants, your favorite show, and turn off the phones! There’s nothing better than some uninterrupted time in bed to nap, catch up on your shows, and rest.
Sensory Deprivation
Did you know that floating in a sensory deprivation tank for 1 hour can do as much good for your body as 4 hours of sleep?! How wild is that?! It’s an amazing experience and if you’ve never done it before, National Relaxation Day is a great excuse to give it a go! It’s a wonderful way to kick back, accept the relaxation, and take a little nap while you’re cut off from the everyday stimuli that we deal with!
A Spa Day
Going to the spa doesn’t have to mean mud baths and pedicures (though it can if that’s what you enjoy) you can also get a massage, a facial, some other general pampering, etc. Treat yourself to a day at the spa doing some “me time” maintenance and you’ll feel so refreshed and rejuvenated afterwards that you’ll wish you had taken the time to do it sooner!
Be Mindful
Maybe you’re not into yoga or meditation but a short time spent working on something similar can really have amazing relaxing effects on your body. There are so many great apps and websites that can help us nowadays with our mindfulness. Carve out a little time today or tomorrow to practice some breathing exercises to help get you in the spirit of National Relaxation Day!
