There are many destinations around the state within driving distance of Tulsa. We’ve picked out 5 road trips from Tulsa that are perfect for day trips and weekend getaways this spring. 1. Spend a Day Splashing at Turner Falls Park

Distance from Tulsa: 159 miles (2hr 45min drive)
Why: Travel to Davis Oklahoma and for an outdoor adventure. Turner Falls Park has the largest waterfall in Oklahoma which makes it an automatic must-see destination! Aside from the 77ft waterfall, there are hiking trails, swimming holes, caves waiting to be explored and more! You can rough it in a tent, or rent a cabin. It is fun for all ages and offers a cool getaway for Spring and Summer.

2. Escape to Eufaula Lake

Why: Take a weekend trip along the shores of Eufaula Lake. The trip is well worth it and can fit many different itineraries. Whether you’re looking for family fun, a fishing expedition, a romantic getaway or a ladies weekend there is a lot do in the area. Eufaula Lake is the largest lake in Oklahoma with 600 miles of shoreline. You can boating, swimming, hiking, fishing, hunting, golfing and horseback riding in the area. Plus there are so many kinds of fish here, like catfish, sandbass, Kentucky bass and more, fishermen love coming here.

Why: Red Rock Canyon State Park is the perfect destination for any outdoors adventurer. This tranquil park offers beautiful hiking through canyons with vibrant red rock walls. You can even see pieces of history here, like old wagon wheels left behind as settlers travelled through the area on the way to California. If you’re an adrenaline junkie, you can go rappelling down the canyon walls. You can also go fishing at the fishing pond in the park.

There are RV and tent campsites along the Mountain Fork River and the Lakeview Lodge for overnight stays as well.

Why: The Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge is an absolutely gorgeous area in the state. The refuge covers over 59,000 acres and is home to Texas Longhorn cattle, free range buffalo, prairie dogs, elk, deer and more. Enjoy hiking, camping, fishing, mountain biking, rock climbing and rappelling in the refuge. There are varying hiking trails with different levels of difficulty and all with scenic views. A trip to the refuge is one of relaxation and serenity. There are guided tours, and the Quanah Parker Nature and Visitor Center that has featured exhibits, changing displays and helpful staff that can make your trip to the refuge even better.
Bonus Tip: For a spectacular view, visit the Forty-Foot Hole, which is a popular hiking spot during the summer months. This unique area in the refuge is Near Lost Lake and features tumbling waterfalls and rock formations in a small gorge where Cache Creek flows through.
